Since Omation created the first "Envelopener" in 1974, it has become the top selling line of automated mail openers and the standard of excellence globally. Today, thousands of Omation machines are used to open envelopes in businesses and government agencies throughout the world.

Founded in 1987, Formax is a privately held company based in New Hampshire, USA. The company was originally established to specialize in the sales and service of paper processing equipment throughout the New England area. In 1993, the Formax brand of products was first introduced and offered through resellers nationwide. The product line has evolved to include state-of-the art AutoSeal® technology for one-piece mailers, a full line of office paper folders, folder/inserters, checksigners, bursters, letter openers, joggers, and decollators.
Today, Formax has become an industry leader in the design, engineering, sales and support of paper processing equipment. The company's goal is to continually introduce new and innovative products while providing an unequaled level of service and support for authorized Formax dealers worldwide. In 1998 the company built a new facility to support growing sales, marketing and engineering departments. A second phase of construction was completed in November of 2000. This expansion has allowed Formax to continue an aggressive pursuit of product development and customer support.
